Facing A Big Change In Life? This Is What You Need To Know

Changing Your Life Is Like Growing Tomatoes

Just yesterday, I picked a bucketful of cherry tomatoes. While I was picking them, I thought back to the day that we planted the seeds…

The grandkids were here and it was an exciting event to plant those tomatoes together (we started them in the house).

Then, after the planting was finished, the waiting began. And they did wait… day after day after day, checking on the little pots sitting by the big rectangle windows for signs of growth. For a long time, nothing was there.

Then yesterday, after months of growing and tending to the plants, including watering and pruning them, we finally harvested the first crop of cherry tomatoes.

Why am I talking about gardening?

Well, because making a big change in life is a lot like growing tomato plants. So if you’re facing a big transition, don’t let the thought of it overwhelm you.

A Big Change Begins With A Single Step

There’s a Chinese proverb that says:

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Personally, I feel that the first step is the hardest…

Do you need to make a change in your life? Are you feeling anxious or fearful about something?

Perhaps you’re working hard on your business every day but you feel like there are crickets and nobody’s paying attention… Or maybe you’d like to write a book but you don’t know how to get started… Or you could be a homeschool mom and you’re struggling to pull it all together…

Wherever you’re at today, I want to encourage you with a word of hope.

Change Your Habits To Change Yourself

Change is a process. It won’t happen overnight. But one thing is for sure —

If you change your habits, you WILL change AND you’ll multiply your efforts.

So, I want to empower you to take that ONE step that you’ve been putting off:

  • Maybe it’s a step in your business, somebody that you need to call
  • Perhaps it’s a change in your diet to eat less sugar or fatty foods
  • Or maybe you want to get that book written and you just need to start your writing
  • Perhaps you’re that stay-at-school mom and you know what you need to do to pull everything together…

Regardless of how big or small the change is that you need to make, I want to encourage you and give you hope.

The Secret To Personal Growth

I believe that if we take responsibility for the things that we CAN change, like our attitude, thoughts, actions, mind, then great change is possible.

And that, my friend, is the secret to personal growth…

It’s doing the little things day after day and eventually you turn around and a year has passed and you’re in a brand new place.

A place that you never thought you’d make it to.

But when you look back, you see all those signposts of all the growth you’ve had throughout the year because you took that first step and then the next step and the next one. It felt like you were plodding along but then a year later, here you are.

Now, what would have happened if you hadn’t taken that first step?

You would NOT have the success in your biz that you have today. You would NOT have the chapter or ten chapters written. And you wouldn’t have the structure for the homeschooling that you desire for your kids.

Remember That Change Is A Process

Take that ONE step and remember that one step leads to the next step and that is the growth that we’re looking for.

Remember this: change is a process. It doesn’t happen magically overnight.

Instead, it happens as we take one step at a time. Just like my little tomatoes, they grew one day at a time.

I didn’t see what was happening underneath the soil but they were growing.

Take that step today that you’ve been putting off and multiply your efforts.
